At Dole Academy, we take tutoring and our clients’ academic success seriously. We understand learning styles and tutoring needs differ. Our method of consultation, testing, evaluation, and planning (the Dole Academy Method) is employed with each tutee to ensure maximum academic improvement.

The Dole Academy Method

Step 1:  Upon initial consultation, the tutee is given an assessment to determine the most effective teaching strategies, as well as content strengths and weaknesses.

Step 2: Test results are evaluated and a customized learning plan is developed, emphasizing specific targeted goals for achievement during tutoring sessions.

Step 3:  Tutor and tutee together (and parents of child tutees) determine long-term learning goals. Input from other sources, such as student’s teachers, is often included in this phase of planning. The ultimate goal is to realize progress and success while reinforcing strengths and overcoming weaknesses.

Tutoring Strategy

A lesson plan is formulated prior to each tutoring session (Step 4 of the Dole Academy Method). It outlines specific objectives to be met in that session, based on the student’s personal progress. This plan corresponds with the predefined goals from Step 3 of the Dole Academy Method. All activities completed during the tutoring session are written for the purpose of achieving the stated learning objectives.

The lesson plan and tutoring session are modified, as needed, to improve the student’s progress. Flexibility exists for accommodating problems, such as additional study requirements for accomplishing a learning goal. This flexibility is also beneficial when the student accomplishes a learning goal more quickly than anticipated.

At Dole Academy, we continuously assess student progress in order to achieve the best possible outcome for each individual student.
